You are cordially invited to join IKG on our 27th Annual Study Tour to Egypt, July 11-July 25, 2023. As you travel with us down the Nile you will see incredible sites and your life will be transformed as you participate in many of the life altering cultural experiences we have planned. We begin each morning with field trips to historic sites and end the day with evening lectures by your facilitator Anthony Browder.

Day 1: THE BEGINNING OF OUR EXPLORING TOUR – Leave Washington DC – Dulles via EgyptAir jet service to Cairo.  Meals will be served on board.

Day 2: INTO THE LAND OF THE PHARAOHS – Arrival in Cairo. You will be met and transferred to you hotel. Harambee Gathering.

Day 3: MEMPHIS/SAKKARA/GIZA – Morning tour to Memphis and Sakkara to visit the Step Pyramid. Proceed to Giza and visit the pyramids of Khufu, Kafara and Menkara and Heremakhet (the Sphinx). Return to your hotel. Evening Lecture.

Day 4: THE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM/OLD CAIRO – Morning visit to the Egyptian Museum. Afternoon tour of Old Cairo and the Khan el Khalili Bazaar. Return to your hotel. Evening Lecture.

Day 5: CAIRO/ LUXOR – Transfer to the airport for your short flight to Luxor, upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

WASET (LUXOR OR THEBES)/IPET ISUT (KARNAK) & SOUTHERN IPET (LUXOR) TEMPLES – Visit the Avenue of the Sphinxes at Ipet Isut (Karnak), the Hypostyle Hall and the Sacred Lake. Continue to the Southern Ipet (Temple of Luxor). Return to your hotel. Evening Lecture.

Day 6: TANTERA (DENDERA) (THE TEMPLE OF HT HR)/ABDU (ABYDOS) – Leave Waset early in the morning by bus to visit Tantera (the Temple of Ht Hr [Hathor]), drive to the ancient city of Abdu, and visit the Temple of Seti. Return to your hotel in Waset in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: WASET (THEBES)/VALLEY OF THE KINGS, QUEENS AND NOBLES/ MEDINET HABU/ COLOSSI OF MEMNON – Morning visit to the Necropolis of Thebes on the West Bank. Visit the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and continue to Medinet Habu. Return to Luxor for lunch, dinner and overnight. Evening Lecture.

Day 8:  HILLIARD MEMORIAL SERVICE AT THE ASA RESTORATION SITE – This morning drive to the West Bank of the Nile for a special memorial service at the site of the ASA excavation. Return to your hotel for Ancestral Memorial Service on the East Bank after dinner.

Day 9: WASET – Transfer to board your ship for lunch aboard, balance of the day at leisure.

Day 10: ASA RESTORATION/ TOMB OF KARAKHAMUN – Visit the ASA RESTORATION PROJECT, the excavation of the tombs of Karakhamun and Karabasken. Return to your Hotel, dinner and overnight. Evening Lecture.

Day 11: EDFU (THE TEMPLE OF HERU KOM OMBO (THE TEMPLE OF SOBEK) – Sail to Edfu to visit the Temple of Heru (Horus). Continue your sailing towards Kom Ombo. Double entrances lead through the pylons to the court, vestibule, pillared hall and the three antechambers to the Sanctuaries of the Gods. Enjoy dinner while sailing to Aswan.

Day 12: ASWAN/ THE HIGH DAM/PILAK (PHILAE) TEMPLE & UNFINISHED TEKENU (OBELISK) OF HATSHEPSUT – Morning visit to Pilak (Philae).  See the unfinished tekhen (obelisk) of Queen Hatshepsut, had it been completed, it would have been the largest ever hewn. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: ASWAN/ABU SIMBEL (THE TEMPLE OF RAMSES II)ASWAN/ CAIRO Morning flight from Aswan to Abu Simbel, the Great Temple, hewn in the rock, with the four colossal seated statues of the King in front of the entrance. Nearby, to the north, is a second temple, also built by Ramses II, and dedicated to Nefertari, the King’s wife.  Return to Aswan to connect with your flight to Cairo. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight. Evening Lecture.

Day 14: Day at leisure. Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Cairo. Dinner and overnight.

Day 15: CAIRO/ Washington Transfer to the airport for your flight departure Cairo to Dulles Airport, Washington DC.
